Frequently Asked Questions

What is TEFL/TESOL or even TOEFL ?
TEFL stands for “Teaching English as a Foreign Language.” So the student’s native language is not English while the teacher may or may not be a native English speaker or  a speaker of the local language. TESOL means "Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages", which was more commonly known in the USA.  A few years back, you would take a TEFL course and possibly gain a TESOL certificate. But nowadays, both terms mean exactly the same.

Don't get this mixed up with TOEFL which is a test of English as a Foreign Language. This is a standardized test to measure the English language ability of non-native speakers wishing to enroll in English-speaking universities.
How long does it take to complete my TEFL course?
Most students can complete the course in around 2 weeks, with just one hour per day study time. You have up to three months to complete the course.
Do I have to be a native English speaker to take this course?
No, you do not need to be a native speaker to teach English. In fact there are more non-native TEFL teachers around the world than native ones!
